On September 20, 2017, a delegation of the Economic and Social Council of the Central African Republic, composed of Mr. Alfred Taïnga Poloko, President, Mr. Nicolas Tiangaye, former Prime Minister, and Mr. Clément De-Boutet M`bamba, General Rapporteur, had a meeting with Mr. Iacob Baciu, President of the ESC of Romania and President of AICESIS, at the Romanian ESC headquarters in Bucharest.

The delegation`s objective was first and foremost to congratulate Mr. Iacob Baciu on his election as head of AICESIS, but also to formally confirm the adherence of the Central African ESC to AICESIS and the council’s determination to become fully involved in the activities of the Association, as well as to discuss certain practical issues, such as the payment of membership fees to the Association and the absence of a head office of the institution.

The three members of the Central African ESC delegation expressed the willingness of their council to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two institutions, of the Central African Republic and of Romania, but also, at a higher level, between the two countries, to encourage the exchange of experience and good practices between the two councils, and to offer its support and expertise to the Romanian ESC in its new position as President of AICESIS.

The representatives of the Central African ESC also asked Mr. Iacob Baciu, in his capacity as President of AICESIS, to support them in their endeavors to develop and strengthen their council and to obtain a head office for their institution.

At the same time, Mr. Nicolas Tiangaye, former Prime Minister of the Central African Republic and a renowned lawyer in his country, expressed his willingness to offer AICESIS his rich professional experience and to take on important tasks within the Association.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and collegiality. At the end of the discussions, President Iacob Baciu assured the Central African delegation of the full support of the Romanian council. Also, he invited the representatives of the Central African ESC to return to Romania in order to get better acquainted with the country, but also to participate in a plenary meeting of the Romanian council so as to get a better idea of its composition and activities, and no less important, to establish a common agenda on the development and the strengthening of AICESIS. The invitation was accepted with great pleasure.
