The Presidency of AICESIS is held for a two-year term, according to a principle of rotation on a continental basis, by an Economic and Social Council member of the Association. Each institution that holds the presidency of the Association has the responsibility to organize a General Assembly meeting - usually at the end of its term.
The International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) together with the Economic and Social Council of Romania organizes the General Assembly of AICESIS, from October 9 to October 10, 2019, at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, in the Grand Ballroom A.

The partnership between the International Association of ESC-SIs (AICESIS), presided at present by the ESC of Romania, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) was marked by the organization on 23 and 24 October of an international seminar on the Digital Revolution, the main theme of the Romanian presidency of AICESIS.
Between 15 and 20 November 2018, a delegation representing the Romanian Economic and Social Council (ESC) visited the Chinese Economic and Social Council (CESC) in Beijing, following the invitation addressed by CESC President, Mr. DU Qinglin, to Mr. Iacob Baciu, ESC and AICESIS President.

The Economic and Social Council of Slovakia and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) jointly organized the Annual Meeting of the Presidents and Secretaries-General of the National ESCs of the EU and the EESC, which took place this year on 14 and 15 June 2018 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
A delegation of the Economic and Social Council of Romania, led by Mr. Iacob Baciu, President, and formed of Messrs. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Adrian Marin, AICESIS General Rapporteur.
Mr. Francisco Gonzáles de Leña, the present AICESIS Secretary-General, paid an informal working visit to Romania, between 31 August and 2 September 2017, in order to meet Mr. Iacob Baciu, President of the ESC of Romania, to discuss with him about the application of the Romanian ESC and of its President to the position of AICESIS President for the mandate 2017-2019.

On September 20, 2017, a delegation of the Economic and Social Council of the Central African Republic, composed of Mr. Alfred Taïnga Poloko, President, Mr. Nicolas Tiangaye, former Prime Minister, and Mr. Clément De-Boutet M'bamba, General Rapporteur, had a meeting with Mr. Iacob Baciu, President of the ESC of Romania and President of AICESIS, at the Romanian ESC headquarters in Bucharest.

ESC participation at international events
Uniunea Consiliilor Economice şi Sociale şi Instituţiilor Similare ale Statelor şi Guvernelor Membre ale Francofoniei (UCESIF) (https://ucesif.fr/) a fost creată la data de 15 noiembrie 2004, la Ouagadougou - Burkina Faso. Uniunea are sediul social şi juridic în Franţa (Bvd. Bosquet nr. 19-21, Paris 7).
Consiliul Economic şi Social din România a fost invitat de către conducerea CES-ului din Malta şi cea a Comitetului Economic şi Social European să participe la Reuniunea anuală a preşedinţilor şi secretarilor generali ai CES-urilor din statele membre ale UE şi ai CESE, eveniment care, în acest an, se va desfăşura în Malta, la Valletta, în zilele de 22 şi 23 iunie 2017.
În ziua de 29 mai 2017, între orele 09:00 și 13:00, Consiliul Economic și Social a fost gazda unei dezbateri cu societatea civilă din România, organizate de Comitetul Economic și Social European la București.
A delegation of the Romanian ESC, led by President Iacob Baciu and formed of Messrs. Dragoș Mihalache, Vice-President, Liviu Apostoiu, Member of the Bureau, Ms. Daniela Vișoianu, Member of the Bureau, and Ms. Eugenia Ștefănescu, Head of the International Relations Department, participated in an international conference jointly organized by the International Labor Organization, AICESIS and the Economic and Social Council of Greece (OKE) in Athens, on 23 and 24 November 2017.
The Economic and Social Council of Romania organized on Friday, 8 December 2017, at its headquarters in Bucharest, an Elective General Assembly of UCESIF. The event brought together representatives of the Francophone CES - Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, France, Mali and Morocco - of the International Francophone Organization, the Ivory Coast Embassy and the Kingdom of Morocco. Three members of the Union, who could not attend the meeting, mandated Mr Nizar Baraka, President of the EESC in Morocco and the then President of UCESIF, to represent them. These were: Guinea's Economic and Social Council, Niger's Economic, Social and Cultural Council, and Senegal's Economic, Social and Environmental Council. ESAs from Armenia, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Greece, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Mauritania, Monaco and Chad could not be represented at this event.
The International Francophonie Organization (OIF) organized its sixth edition of the Francophone Institutional Network Days at its Paris headquarters on Tuesday 29 May and Wednesday 30 May 2018. The event was an opportunity for meeting, dialogue and exchange of expertise between the institutional members of the Francophonie and other interested partners.
We found with deep emotion and immense sadness the news of the death of my brother, colleague, my dear friend, CESEC President of Ivory Coast and AICESIS President, Mr. Charles Koffi DIBY, who died on December 7, 2019.
By an electronic message received on July 12, 2019, a representative of the Market Supervisory Administration of the Yunnan Province of China requested the management of CES Romania the opportunity to have a meeting at the headquarters of our institution with its president, as well as with other members., in order to know more closely the Romanian Economic and Social Council and to receive information on the general situation of economic and social development in Romania, on ways to maintain and stabilize market prosperity, to promote sustainable economic and social development through improving market surveillance.
In the UCESIF chairmanship that CES Romania holds for the 2017-2019 mandate, Mr. Radu Minea, a member of CES Romania, represented our institution at the EESC meeting in France during which the project "The Role of France in a Dynamic Francophone "Proposed by the European and International Affairs Section of the French Council.
