The event, on the topic “Defending European Values: The Power of Civil Society”, brought together communication experts, representatives of the European Union and national Economic and Social Councils, journalists, and researchers in the field of communication.

The seminar provided a forum for debate on the European Union’s ability to protect its fundamental values in a context marked by the redefinition of economic priorities, declining trust in democratic institutions, and increasing pressures on civic space. Participants analyzed the essential role of civil society in strengthening democracy and promoting European values.

The program was structured into two thematic sessions. The first addressed the need to strike a balance between strengthening competitiveness and protecting social rights in the European Union, while the second focused on ways to restore citizens’ trust in European institutions and the independent media.

The debates highlighted the importance of promoting policies that support long-term economic growth, strengthen the European Union’s global competitiveness, protect quality jobs, and maintain a resilient social model and a stable democratic framework. At the same time, participants emphasized the need to redefine the European social contract so that citizens realize that democracy and European values must be constantly defended and strengthened.

The seminar concluded with a workshop focused on the use of artificial intelligence to support public communication, during which solutions for combating disinformation and improving the effectiveness of institutional communication were discussed.
