ESC president to attend the "Economic Trends 2025" conference Bucharest, March 31, 2025

The President of the Economic and Social Council, Mr. Sterică Fudulea, participated today, 31 March 2025, as a speaker in the business panel at the "Economic Trends 2025" Conference, an event organized by the European Businesswomen's Patronage (PEFA), held at the Arenele BNR.

The conference included three thematic panels centered on macroeconomics, business and energy, and brought together business, energy and finance leaders to discuss the challenges of the year ahead.

In his speech, the President underlined the importance of social and civic dialogue behind any political decision: "It is always the political decision that is the most visible. What you don't see is the social and civic dialog behind that decision. We don't have a culture of social and civic dialog in terms of implementation and the legislative journey. Dialogue often takes place on the day a legislative initiative is endorsed, which is almost not good. Social and civic dialogue are the pillars of a democratic and balanced society, providing a framework for cooperation between all stakeholders. Through a constant exchange of ideas and solutions, these forms of dialogue contribute to decisions that respond to the real needs of the community," said the ESC president.

In addition, the ETUC president presented a comparison of the current trade balance deficit with that of ten years ago, pointing to an alarming increase of 530% in recent years. He also pointed out that exports have increased by only 173% and imports by 210%, which is felt in our daily lives.
